MISSION

The DL Services provides hosting and systems support for the digital libraries of the Clinical Digital Libraries Project (CDLP), a joint research, teaching and service effort of the University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies and the University of North Texas School of Library and Information Sciences.


RESEARCH

  2. DL Services Network Architecture and Interworking Schema: an architecture that supports the professional management of digital libraries and the subsequent integration of those services into patient record systems and other applications
  3. Investigate a role for information architecture, classification/taxonomy and ontology development for facilitating the effective navigation of large-scale digital libraries;
  4. Evaluate contemporary industry enterprise architectures, such as Web Services and J2EE, for enhancing digital library navigation and usability;
  5. Investigate alternative (e.g., wireless and handheld device) access methods for digital libraries;
  6. Develop metrics for accurately measuring traffic in digital libraries and their impact their impact on decisionmaking in organizations;
  7. Determine the effectiveness of data mining and other methods for inferring patterns of digital library usage to inform development of advanced functionalities.
